The climate year of Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik was formerly known as the Republic of Ragusa and is located in the south of Croatia on the Adriatic Sea. The Croatian name comes from the Slavic word dubrava, which means "oak grove" and besides the name of the city still stands the word "Libertas", freedom, of which the citizens are very proud. Once in the past, when the Ottomans wanted to take the city, a poet of Dubrovnik coined the words that the citizens would not sell their freedom for all the gold in the world. This is represented by the Roland column, a knight with a sword, which is a symbol of the city's rights. Today, Dubrovnik is visited by tourists from all over the world during the summer months and is considered the most popular vacation destination in Croatia. Then the sun shines from early to late with an average of 26 degrees and the bathing season with water temperatures averaging at least 21 degrees is in high season.

General information about Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979, but was besieged and shelled by Serbian-Montenegrin forces during the 1991 Croatian War. The damage has almost all been repaired and now tourists are once again visiting this interesting place with a lot of history and wonderful beaches. Dubrovnik is once again considered the most beautiful city in the Mediterranean, the old town is car-free and nothing stands in the way of a tour of the medieval city walls of the former naval power. The city wall was built to defend against attacks and is 1940 meters long and up to six meters wide. There is a 2 km long circular walk on the city wall that leads up and down stairs and rewards the visitor with breathtaking views. Watchtowers with narrow spiral staircases lead up to the embrasures and the visitor looks down on the street cafes, restaurants and boutiques, churches and palaces.

Tourism Dubrovnik

The swimming season starts as early as April and can last until the end of October, or longer. In autumn, the weather in Dubrovnik is still mild and the city walls are empty! With 250 sunny days a year and more, the chances of sunbathing are good even in winter. The monthly average maximum temperatures of 17 degrees in November and 13 degrees in December to February confirm this assumption. However, the chance of a rainstorm is also a little greater than in summer, but an average of 10 to 12 rainy days in the months of October to February can still tolerate a vacation quite well - after all, it is winter and with us it rains, snows and storms.
