The climate year of Gdansk

Gdansk is a port city on the Polish Baltic coast. It has a temperate climate with temperatures fluctuating over the annual average. The probability of rain is generally very high, with about 13 rainy days per month to be expected in summer. The fewest rainy days are in the months of May and June, these months, along with July, are ideal for a visit to this beautiful and historic city. There is usually a pleasant wind blowing inland from the Baltic Sea, so even in the blazing sun you rarely break a sweat. The rains can be quite heavy, but they quickly move on because the cloud formations cannot accumulate on any mountains, the greater area around Gdansk is more or less flat. The city itself is very spacious and repeatedly interrupted by large green areas, partly parks, partly naturally left areas. In addition to the green oases, the beach promenade between Gdansk and Gdynia is also ideal for relaxing walks.

General information about Gdansk

Gdansk is rich in sights. In the historic city center, one interesting building follows another. Churches, cathedrals and chapels of various architectural styles harmonize with the magnificent burgher houses and the former boulevards. The most beautiful houses in Gdansk are located in Ulica Dluga, and here and in Ulica Mariacka you can also find a myriad of restaurants serving classic Polish cuisine. Gdansk is also rich in museums, most notably the Solidarnosc Museum on the site of the former Gdansk Shipyard. On the promenade along the Motlawa River stands the famous Crane Gate, vis-a-vis the Polish Museum of Local History and Navigation. Directly in front of it is anchored the museum ship Soldek, the first ship built in the Gdansk Shipyard after the Second World War. In a few minutes walk from there you can also reach the Museum of the Second World War. Gdansk has been a center of the amber trade for centuries, so it is not surprising to find an amber museum in the city as well.
