The climate year of Ibiza

Ibiza is located about 90 kilometers east of the Spain. Like the other islands of the Balearic Islands, Ibiza is geologically a breakaway of the Andalusian rocky mountains. The coastal areas are rugged, while the interior of the island is gently hilly. In between there are sandy areas, the so-called calas. Climatically, Ibiza offers the tourist an almost year-round season. The summer temperatures are warm according to the location, in winter the temperatures are still clearly in the plus. A big advantage for sun-seekers and swimmers are the low amounts of precipitation in the summer months. If you travel to Ibiza in the early or late season, you can relax with still pleasant temperatures, but especially in October and November you can expect more precipitation.

General information about Ibiza

Ibiza was discovered for tourism in the thirties of the last century. The pioneers were mainly British, who still make up the largest percentage of tourists today. The burgeoning tourism was repeatedly destroyed by the Spanish Civil War and the Second World War. In the sixties, the flower children discovered the island for themselves, and tourism began to develop rapidly again from 1970. From 1990 onwards, Ibiza saw the emergence of the club and disco scene, which is still active and famous today. Parties that often last several days are not uncommon. The arrival is mainly by plane to the airport Ibiza, the larger cities on the coast can steer well-heeled also with their yachts, ports and appropriate infrastructure are available. The most impressive sights on Ibiza are the old city fortifications and especially the churches of the cities. In addition, Ibiza also offers a wealth of small but fine museums. Very popular with tourists are also excursions into the interior, mostly by rental car. If you discover the island by car or motorcycle, you will always be impressed by the many fincas of different architectural styles. Every style is represented, from classic and modest to the new-rich and ostentatious.

Tourism Ibiza

Spring in Ibiza is marked by the almond blossom. In February, while winter still reigns in Northern and Central Europe, nature begins to awaken on the island. The temperatures slowly rise and the sea also begins to warm up. This time of year, until Easter, is the ideal time for a hiking vacation. On average, only 2 to 4 rainy days per month can be expected in spring, making it ideal weather for hiking. The increasingly warm sea attracts the first beach tourists at Easter, even if only about 8 hours of sunshine per day are to be expected. In May, the sea becomes much warmer and the number of sunny hours increases. The summer in Ibiza really starts in June. Warm sea, up to twelve hours of sunshine a day and almost no rain until autumn. More than 2 rainy days are not to be expected until August, the gentle but steady dry wind makes the high daytime temperatures bearable. With these splendid conditions, Ibiza is then quite busy. The beginning of autumn is immediately recognizable in September. Bad weather fronts move over the island, the days become shorter, and the amount of precipitation increases noticeably. Until November you can expect 10 or more rainy days. Winter is the quietest time on Ibiza. The rainy days become less again, there is sun again and again, but the sea is too cool for swimming. Slowly the island prepares for spring.
