The climate year of Naples

In Naples itself and in the surrounding area lie several destinations for the interested traveler to Italy. The best time to travel are the months of May and June and September/October. For bathing in the main season the temperature directly at the beach is however well bearable, since always a light breeze blows from the sea. When the weather is nice, you can see the islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida directly from the gulf. The Gulf of Naples is surrounded by the famous volcano Vesuvius and two chains of hills Vomero and Posillipo. The archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum are nearby and the Amalfi Coast with the charming towns of Positano, Amalfi and the mountain village of Ravello are also not far away. The Italian name is Napoli, but the inhabitants still use the old name Napule. The place was founded Néa Pólis by the Greeks, which translated means New City, because at that time there was already another settlement nearby with the name Parthenope.

General information about Naples

It is said that the Pizza Margherita was invented in Naples and Enrico Caruso once said that one day he will return to Naples because he loves his homeland. But he's not going back to sing, he's going back to eat pizza! Every year there is a pizza festival - a famous event of the city. The old town of Naples is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Narrow streets, artisans, fish sellers and hanging laundry from house to house are typical landmarks of the city. You can also find the entrance to the underground caves here and visit the ancient Neapolitan folk culture, the Nativity Street. Not only at Christmas time, in front of the stores there are stalls with colorful nativity figures and when you enter the stores, you feel like you are in a museum, because here jewels of nativity art are waiting for their buyers.

Tourism Naples

The Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters recommends September and October for a beach vacation, because then the water is still warm and the beaches are not so crowded. You can also catch the pizza festival in September - if you're lucky! In August it gets very hot in the city and some stores are closed - because in August people meet at the beach. June through August have the most hours of sunshine per day (9-10) and the fewest rainy days. Water temperatures rise in May to 18°C to 25°C in August and back to 18°C in November.
