The climate year of Side

Side is located on the south coast of Turkey, about halfway between the cities Antalya and Alanya. The historical center, which was already settled in prehistoric times, is located on a peninsula with a length of one kilometer. On both sides of the peninsula there are long, flat sandy beaches. Land inward Side borders directly on the city of Manavgat with the river of the same name, which feeds a fertile plain. East of Side it flows into the Mediterranean Sea. The climatic conditions even allow banana cultivation in the delta. In the northern hinterland, the Taurus Mountains tower up, ideal for locals and guests alike to temporarily retreat from the summer heat.

General information about Side

Side offers a variety of sights. The peninsula with its archaeological sites was placed under protection by UNESCO in 1996. Among other things, you can visit old city walls and aqueducts, the ancient theater, the temple of Apollo and a basilica from early Christian times. In addition, the city with its many markets invites you to stroll and shop and offers with cafes, restaurants, bars and discos entertainment for day and night. Side is considered a paradise for snorkelers. Especially in the west sea turtles can be observed again and again. The local beaches are often awarded with the blue flag, among them also the public city beach. Manvgat, with its bazaars, spice markets and fish restaurants, is a nearby destination. Not far away is the Köprülü Kanyon National Park. Kayak, canoe and rafting trips invite you to glide over rapids and visit an impressive natural landscape with numerous waterfalls. To cool off on hot summer days, excursions to the nearby Taurus Mountains are an alternative to swimming in the sea.

Tourism Side

Side owes its geographical location to a distinctly temperate, Mediterranean to subtropical climate. Swimming is possible from May to October inclusive. Winter is mild and rainy. Spring is warm - summer temperatures are reached from May onwards. Summer is hot and dry, the months June to September count 1-3 rainy days each. June and July bring an average of 12 hours of sunshine per day. Also in autumn it remains warm, although the rainy days increase again. Because of the few rainy days, the period from May to September is considered the ideal time to travel. The mild and constant climate is not only ideal for (sun)bathing, but also provides relief from illnesses such as rheumatism or arthritis.
