Enclosed by the Mediterranean Sea, sunny Italy lies from north to south like a boot on the map and so does the climate. In the north cold - in the south warm - in between a little bit of everything!

The climate year of Veneto

Veneto or officially "Regione del Veneto" is located in northeastern Italy, covers 18,000 km², has about 5 million inhabitants and the capital is Venice. In the northwest Veneto borders with Trentino in South Tyrol, in the west with Lombardy and in the north with Tyrol and Carinthia. Veneto consists of the Dolomites, with the highest mountain Marmolata 3.343 m above sea level, the Veneto Prealps, some hilly landscapes, such as the Euganean Hills or the Montello area, the Po plain, a part of the Lake Garda and a 150 km long Adriatic coast. Veneto is situated between the mountains and the sea and so is the climate: in winter it can be quite cold and humid, although the sea still has a water temperature of 20 degrees.

General information about Veneto

The capital city of Venice, with its lagoons and unique monuments, is known all over the world. To get to know Venice, you have to plan a few days stay for it on a round trip through Veneto. Lake Garda is also now almost too well known and well booked in the summer months, but even after the umpteenth visit it can still fascinate. With Verona, the traveler associates the Roman Arena, musical performances and the ancient palaces of the old town. If the tourist wants to rest and feel good for a few days, it is best to visit the thermal spa "Aquardens" on the route between Verona and Lake Garda and let himself be pampered a little. Again and again you will find beautiful towns, such as Borghetto sul Mincio or the beautiful park of Sigurtà, which should not be missed. Also the rich city of Padua or the noble city of Vicenza captivate with numerous palaces. Goethe was most interested in this city right after Rome, especially for the architect Palladio and his villa "La Rotonda".

Tourism Veneto

In spring, in April and May, the season for hikers begins. It is greening and blossoming and on Lake Garda the climate is milder than on the coast. With temperatures already pleasant, sailors are in good hands on Lake Garda. But already at the end of May the brave ones try the first bath in the sea, the culture-interested ones use this time for their purposes in Veneto. The summers are dry and hot, only the bora (fall wind) provides fresh wind and a little cooling, sometimes it is quite stormy. In July the temperatures reach on average about 27°C, the water temperature 23°C. Those who are sensitive to heat can retreat to the mountain regions, here it is warm but not hot and ideal for hiking. In autumn, when air temperatures have long since dropped, the sea is still warm and an ideal time for cultural travelers with little rainfall. In November it rains frequently and it becomes damp and wet. Winter invites skiing, the famous resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo is located in the Veneto region and the Po Valley can reach -15°C in winter.
