The climate year of Corfu

There are over 4 million old olive trees to admire, slender large cypresses and an interesting coastline with charming bays. Idyllic beaches offer plenty of space for numerous visitors and round off the Corfu vacation to a uniquely beautiful experience. The south of the island is usually more spoiled by the sun than the northeast. That is, if it rains just on one side of the island, it is within the realm of possibility that every ray of sunshine is enjoyed on the other side. In the winter months, from December to February, the thermometer shows an average of seven to a maximum of 13 degrees, depending on the region. From April on, the sunshine hours increase again. In the high season, i.e. from the month of July and in August, 31 degrees are also measured there.

General information about Corfu

Those who prefer to spend their vacation on Corfu by the water, go to one of the numerous small and quaint coastal towns on the 217 kilometers of beautiful coastline. Holidaymakers, who repeatedly describe Corfu as a dream destination, claim that it is the most beautiful old town there - practically there is none more beautiful in the entire Mediterranean. The museums, located in Corfu's capital Kerkira, are a nice place to visit - here guests can find the history about the island. And also Paleokastritsa, a very popular resort located on the west coast, with its monastery Mirtiotissa situated on a hill is worth a visit. If you want more peace and quiet, far from mass tourism, go to the second largest town of Corfu - Lefkimi. There is still something more traditional going on. Corfu has a delicious Greek cuisine, which is accompanied by Italian influences. It offers more than just gyros, peasant salad, lamb chops and tzatziki. The Ionian island is known with its traditional Greek dishes in the numerous rustic taverns.

Tourism Corfu

The best time for vacationers to spend their well-deserved free time in Corfu is in spring and also in late autumn. During midsummer, the rather high temperatures may be endurable for some only with a swim in the sea and a cool wind. The bathing season starts at the end of May and lasts until the beginning of October. The surrounding mountains are responsible for the extremely warm and dry climate in Corfu. Between this mountain range stretches the so-called Ropa Valley and further south is a beautiful valley south of Lefkimi.
