The climate year of Patras

Patras is located at the southeastern end of the Gulf of Patras in a Mediterranean zone. To the east, the city is bordered by the foothills of the Panachaiko Mountains. In the months of June, July and August there is almost no rain. Statistics indicate 1-2 rainy days per month. Ten to eleven hours of sunshine provide warm temperatures and ideal vacation weather during this time. Correspondingly Mediterranean is also the landscape worth seeing in the surroundings of the cultural capital Europe from the year 2006.

General information about Patras

The Greek city of Patras is especially known for its carnival in February. At the end of January the traditional Tsiknopempti takes place there, in this country the Weiberfastnacht. Afterwards, the streets of the city are bustling with colorful activity. Many parades and carnival spectacles are on the program. The carnival in Patras is the largest in Greece. Besides, the city offers vacationers long beaches and ideal bathing weather in summer. In between tourists can see a Roman amphitheater, as well as other historical sights. In the evening, a visit to the Apollon Theater is possible. In the summer months, many sailors also come to the Gulf of Patras to launch their ships. The typical Mediterranean climate provides warm summers and mild winters in many parts of Greece. This is also the case in Patras. The beginning of the year there is not necessarily uncomfortable, but rainy and only mild. In the first two months of the year, temperatures are usually measured between 5 and 14 degrees Celsius. About half of the month it rains. After that, the weather improves steadily. In April and May, meteorologists sometimes measure temperatures between 9 and 23 degrees Celsius. With this, water temperatures also rise and rainfall decreases. The summer months are particularly pleasant with warm temperatures, a lot of sun and little rain and therefore also the best season for tourists. From October on, the weather gets steadily worse. It gets colder and wetter. Again and again a strong to stormy wind blows, which can be very unpleasant. Statistically, the year ends in December with 14 rainy days. In addition, 7 to 16 degrees Celsius are normal in the Christmas month. There are very few tourists in the region at this time of year. For tourists, spring and summer are ideal.
