The climate year of Rhodes

The island of Rhodes belongs to Greece and is located in the southeastern Aegean Sea at the 36th parallel north. More than 3,000 hours of sunshine make the island the sunniest region in all of Europe and therefore one of the most popular destinations to escape the cool and dreary winters in this country. In addition, it rains only a few months a year and then usually not very intense. While in the east of the island in the summer up to 40 degrees and more, a refreshing sea breeze on the coasts in the west provides much more pleasant temperatures. In addition, the heat on Rhodes is much more pleasant, as the humidity is not very high. A positive side effect of the hot summers on Rhodes is that the water is also pleasantly warm and can reach about 20 degrees in August.

General information about Rhodes

Rhodes belongs to one of the most touristic regions of Greece, where the main season goes from May to October, but also in the low season the island has a lot to offer. A popular attraction for guests is the Valley of the Butterflies in the northwest of Rhodes. As the name suggests, countless butterflies - often up to 1,000 in one square meter - cavort here. The reason for this are the amber trees in the valley, whose scent attracts the butterflies. A popular destination for water sports enthusiasts is the village of Faliraki to the east of Rhodes Town. Guests there have the opportunity to pursue numerous water sports such as surfing or sailing. In addition, fun sports such as riding jet skis are also offered. In addition, the place is a good starting point for other activities, as it has a very good ferry and bus connection.

Tourism Rhodes

In Rhodes, summer and winter alternate and summer lasts from May to September. During this time it almost does not rain. The temperatures are usually above 30 degrees from June to September and only in October it gets cooler and also a little rainy. However, the approximately 800 millimeters of precipitation that Rhodes receives on average per year are distributed over the winter months of December and January. In very rare cases, there is also snow in the interior of the island during these months. Those who prefer milder temperatures should visit the island outside of summer and winter. In the months in between there are pleasant 20 degrees, which are not too warm, but also not too cold.
